Clock is ticking for Winter

21st of March is the first day of spring so there are last days of winter. But it seems that winter went away some time ago because we have beautiful weather in Nowy Sacz now:)

White Gown

The view towards the center of Nowy Sacz. We presented similar photo two weeks ago (here) but we also want to show you this area dressed in the white gown made from snow.

Springtime?

The weather today was beautiful - it was sunny and quite warm. Snow melted and all around us looks like in the springtime. Today we present you the view from one of the bridges on Kamienica River towards center of the town. You can see the townhall and Saint Margaret church.

Happy Birthday to Scouts

This is the view toward the townhall in Nowy Sacz. You can also see the figures of scouts which remind about the 100-years anniversary of scouting in Nowy Sacz.

The townhall

This year the weather in Poland is crazy. A week ago there was the flood. Now, from several days we have a heatwave. In Nowy Sacz the temperatura is about 35 °C (in the shade of course, in the sun it can be almost 50 °C).

Blooming chestnut tree/ 100th post

This is the chestnut tree in the town square. It is very famous in Nowy Sacz. We can say that it's our 'meeting place':) If you want to make an appointment with somebody in the center of the town, the better choice is 'near the chestnut':)
In the recent years the chestnut was sick (there are some pests which destroyed the trees). But in this year they put special bands on the trunks of many trees in Nowy Sacz (you can see it when enlarge the photo) and it seems to be that it works! All the trees with these bands are green and are blooming very beautiful:)

Sun-kissed and shaded

The most expensive one

Today you can see at our blog one of the most expensive cars in the world (and for sure the most expensive one in Nowy Sacz;)). This Maybach belongs to local businessman, tycoon of Polish ice-cream market.

Wet Monday

Today is the Wet Monday ('Lany Poniedzialek'), more about how this day looks like in Poland you can find here.
In the photo there is the fountain on Nowy Sacz's town square. On the left you can notice the townhall and the statue of the Pope John Paul II. In the background there is also the palm.

Maybe you recognize it - it is the townhall of Nowy Sacz but captured from the back side:)

Nowy Sacz's Townhall

Townhall - the heart of the town and probably the most characteristic element of Nowy Sacz. Other photos of the building with some historical background you can find here.

John Paul II on the market square

In todays's photo there is the monument of the Pope John Paul II. It is just next to the townhall.

The monument was bared 16 October 2005.

The glowing tree

The snow still is a part of the landscape of our town.

Some of the trees on the market square were 'dressed' in lights during the Christmas, until February. This photo was taken some time ago but we think it is worth to show it now:)

The Townhall

Hello! Today we would like to present you the townhall of Nowy Sacz. It was built in 1897 after the great fire had damaged the old one. Nowadays it is the residence of the authorities of the town.
