Looking down: Commieblocks

Today a little different "architecture". In the photo there are commieblocks on 'Barskie' housing estate. They were built in the 1980s. Some years ago the blocks were thermoinsulated and they gained new colourful facades. Before that, they were all grey and look very sadly.

These commieblocks are also fine places to take "aerial photos":) In the winter we tried them - here and here you can see the results.

Beautiful composition with these trees and those buildings on the background!

I'm glad that the commieblocks have changed their colors. We have some commieblocks around here (and commie buildings too), but there has been no intention on redecorating them to make look the city or building more friendly.

I love the name, reminds me of the German "Platten" in Berlin and elsewhere. But you're right, at least the view is excellent!

No cóż, w ładnym otoczeniu nawet bloki wydają się przyjaźniejsze:)

You made me smile, m_m, with the term "Commieblocks." I remember your winter photos.

Nice to see they've fixed them up to make them more inhabitable.

Dobrze, że chociaż estetycznie pomalowane. Jak można było ustawić takie blokowisko w górach?? Wrrr..

I love the views! We just have flat surroundings. Amazing what some paint can do by the way!

Cheers from Marcel .. :)

They look much more cheerful this color. I recall seeing the stark drab buildings like that on the tv sometimes back in the 1970's and 80's.

Are these blocks privately owned nowadays or is the city involved somehow?

The ones I remember were quite rude things and I'm sure have some photos of them taken in the 90's.
That's look like a nice improvement and I agree that they look fine for photos from the top!
