Red Square

Hello again!:)
In today's photo you can see the square just next to the 'Planty' Park and the monument of one of the most famous Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz.
Why the Red Square? It is sometimes called that by the people of Nowy Sacz because of the red brick (it's obvious:)) but also because of the monument. Is it beuatiful? We do not know. For sure it seems to be in socialist style (like in Moscow, this is why this place is called Red Square). Mickiewicz deserved something better:)

There's Red square in Seattle at U of Washington campus... I'm pretty sure they weren't under socialists ;-) so maybe it was cool worldwide to build squares from red bricks at some point? :)

Looks like a very boxy style of sculpture. At least he has a monument. Poets, writers and artists don't usually get recognized with monuments here.

Yes... I sometimes don't get that style of art. It was common to see similar representations during the 70's here, and I don't think they represent the esence of the person.

Fun fact: one part of the monument is missing. Legend has it that during commuinst times the people tranpotring the part stole it. You can see quite well in which part Mickiewicz misses his body.
